Butra HeidelbergCement hosted the ASEAN Federation of Cement Manufacturers’ (AFCM) 39th Council Meeting and 19th Conference at the Rizqun International Hotel.
The meeting and conference was held from 19 to 21 November 2015 with the purpose of exchanging views and identify areas of cooperation. Their principle objectives involve promoting cooperation and coordination among cement manufacturers in the ASEAN region, initiate and coordinate programmes that will accelerate the orderly development of the cement industry in the ASEAN region, promoting closer relation and cooperation between and among the cement manufacturing business communities in the member countries and with other regional and international organisations with similar aims and objectives as well as collate and disseminate information and to provide facilities for consultation and exchange of views between and among members.
Attending the meeting were members the Indonesia Cement Association (ICA), The Cement & Concrete Association of Malaysia (C&CA), Cement Manufacturers’ Association of the Philippines (CeMAP), Cement & Concrete Association of Singapore (CNCAS), Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA), Vietnam National Cement Association and Butra HeidelbergCement Sdn Bhd.
In his inaugural remarks, AFCM President Marcelino Ugarte addressed the challenges that cement manufacturers face in their respective countries with the current economic climates, which further reinforced the importance of the federation. He hopes that as members of the federation, more initiatives can be implemented to promote the orderly development of the industry in ASEAN.
The previous meeting was held in Hanoi, Vietnam with past AFCM President Dr Nguyen Quang Cung at the helm. The next AFCM council meeting and conference will be held in Bali, Indonesia.
